Peterborough, New Hampshire
Like many homeowners in Peterborough, New Hampshire, this family was looking to take control of their electricity costs. With Eversource rates averaging $0.27/kWh, the numbers made sense — especially with New Hampshire’s available state and utility incentive programs.
In New Hampshire, solar homeowners can benefit from programs like NEM 2.0 (~85% retail credit). Property tax exempt (RSA 72:62, ~66% of towns).
Important: The federal residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired on December 31, 2025. All savings calculations for this project reflect $0 federal tax credit for homeowner-purchased systems.
We designed a 10.3 kW system using 25 Canadian Solar HiKu7 CS7L-410 panels (412W each). Canadian Solar HiKu7 panels deliver strong performance at a competitive price point. Their half-cut cell technology reduces power loss from shading and improves reliability over the 25-year warranty period.
The Enphase IQ8+ microinverters convert DC to AC at each individual panel, maximizing production even when some panels are shaded. Enphase’s panel-level monitoring lets the homeowner track performance of every single panel through the Enphase app. The IQ8 series also supports Sunlight Backup — limited daytime power during grid outages even without a battery.
Equipment Reviews
New Hampshire NEM 2.0 credits solar production at roughly 85% of the retail rate (100% supply + 100% transmission + 25% distribution). Credits are locked through 2041.
Federal Tax Credit Status: The residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired December 31, 2025. Homeowner-purchased systems receive $0 federal tax credit. All savings estimates above are calculated without any federal credit. Third-party owned systems (leases/PPAs) may still benefit from the commercial ITC (Section 48/48E) claimed by the financing company.
