Solar panels are low-maintenance but not zero-maintenance. Dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and snow can reduce production by 5–25%. Wiring connections can loosen over time. Inverters have moving parts (fans) that wear out. Annual inspections catch small issues before they become expensive problems.

In the Northeast, annual cleaning is usually sufficient. Panels at low tilt angles or near trees may benefit from twice-yearly cleaning. Rain helps, but doesn't remove baked-on grime, pollen, or bird droppings. Professional cleaning typically restores 5–15% of lost production.

While you can rinse panels with a garden hose from the ground, we don't recommend climbing on your roof. Professional cleaning uses deionized water and soft brushes to avoid scratching, and includes a visual inspection of all components while on the roof.

Our annual inspection includes: visual panel inspection for cracks or hotspots, inverter diagnostic check, wiring and connection inspection, racking and mount integrity check, monitoring system verification, production analysis vs. expected output, and a written report with recommendations.

Annual maintenance plans start at $200/year for residential systems. This includes one inspection visit, panel cleaning, inverter diagnostics, and a system health report. Additional services like critter guard installation or warranty claim support are available as add-ons.
