Eversource NH dispatches enrolled batteries during summer peak demand only (June-September). Unlike MA and CT, there is no winter event season in NH. Events typically run 2-5 PM on weekdays when AC load peaks in southern NH (Nashua, Manchester, Concord corridor). Northern NH sees fewer events because demand is lower. Payment is annual and enrollment is growing but the program is less mature than its MA/CT counterparts — expect 20-40 events per summer vs 30-60 in Massachusetts.

Mark Thibodeau in Exeter had an Enphase IQ 5P battery added to his existing solar array in April 2025. NuWatt submitted ConnectedSolutions enrollment to Eversource NH the day after PTO — which came faster than expected at just three weeks, thanks to Exeter's streamlined permitting. His battery was dispatch-ready by late May, catching the full summer season. Over June through September, the Enphase participated in 28 events — fewer than MA but enough to lock in the full $1,000 annual payment. Mark's first ConnectedSolutions deposit arrived in October. With no winter component in NH, that $1,000 represents the program ceiling, and solar recharging kept his grid draw near zero.
On a humid 89°F July Wednesday, Eversource NH calls a dispatch at 2:30 PM as AC load spikes across the Seacoast region. Mark's Enphase IQ 5P receives the command through Enphase's cloud and starts discharging 3.84 kW to the grid. His home stays fully powered — the mini-split keeps cooling, the EV charger pauses automatically per his Enphase scheduling rule, and the solar array continues feeding the house directly. The event ends at 4:45 PM. With no winter events in NH, solar recharging is critical: his panels refill the battery by mid-morning the next day at zero cost.
New Hampshire's summer-only VPP season makes solar recharging especially important. Events run 2-5 PM, and NH gets strong June-August solar production until 7 PM — meaning the battery begins recharging from solar within an hour of most event endings. A 7 kW array recharges a 5 kWh battery in about 45 minutes of post-event sunshine. Over the full summer, solar recharging saves $90-120 vs grid-only recharging at Eversource NH's $0.22/kWh rate. Without solar, each discharge cycle costs ~$1.10 to refill from the grid; with solar, it costs nothing. Annual net difference: a solar-paired battery retains $90-120 more of its $1,000 VPP earnings.

Compared to MA ($1,500 cap with winter), NH earns about 33% less from VPP. This is the main reason NH battery payback runs 7-10 years vs 5-7 in MA. However, for homeowners already on Eversource NH with solar, the combination of ITC + VPP + TOU still pencils out.
NH has lower summer peak demand, fewer rate-paying customers to fund the program, and the program launched later than MA (2022 vs 2019). The $200/kW rate reflects what NH ratepayers can fund through efficiency charges. There is no legislative push to increase the rate as of April 2026. If NH adds a winter component (as MA and CT have), the program value would increase by $25-50/kW.
No. Only Eversource NH offers ConnectedSolutions in New Hampshire. Liberty Utilities (serving northern NH, Keene, and Lebanon) does not have a VPP program. If you are a Liberty customer, battery economics rely entirely on the federal 30% ITC and limited TOU arbitrage. The calculator defaults to Eversource — if you are Liberty territory, set VPP revenue to $0 for realistic numbers.
For homes with solar and $200+/month electric bills on Eversource, yes — the ITC ($3,800-4,500) plus ConnectedSolutions ($1,000/year) plus TOU arbitrage ($500-700/year) produces a 7-10 year payback with 10+ years of remaining warranty. For Liberty Utilities customers or homes with bills under $150/month, the financial case is marginal. Backup value during ice storms is the deciding factor for many NH installs.
VPP events only dispatch during normal grid operation — your battery switches to backup mode during outages. NH averages 2-4 multi-hour outages per year, with occasional 2-3 day events in rural areas. These don't affect VPP earnings (payment is based on enrolled capacity, not actual events), but they provide the real-world backup value that often tips the decision for NH homeowners. Many of our NH installs are motivated by storm resilience first, VPP revenue second.
NHSaves (the state efficiency program) offers heat pump and weatherization rebates but does not currently have a dedicated battery rebate. However, NHSaves and ConnectedSolutions do not conflict — you can receive NHSaves rebates for heat pumps and separately enroll your battery in ConnectedSolutions. Some homeowners install a heat pump + battery package and collect both NHSaves heat pump rebates and ConnectedSolutions battery revenue.
