Quick Answer
Schneider XW Pro Home Energy System: 14 kWh LFP battery with 6.8 kW continuous / 12 kW peak output. NuWatt does not install this battery. Schneider's XW Pro is a commercial-grade system repurposed for residential. Great engineering but overkill and over-complicated for a typical home install. NuWatt installs Franklin aPower 2 for residential whole-home backup with simpler setup.

How we calculated this
This tool is honest by design: for homes with high annual outage hours, the right generator can beat a small battery on dollars alone. Decide what you’re optimizing for — up-front cost, lifetime cost, silence, emissions, or never hearing a pull-cord again.

No. NuWatt does not currently install the Schneider XW Pro Home Energy System. For the same use case, we install the FranklinWH aPower 2 — see the "NuWatt's recommendation" section above for a detailed comparison.
The Schneider XW Pro Home Energy System has 14 kWh of nameplate capacity and 12.6 kWh of usable capacity — the difference (1.4 kWh) is reserved for battery health and cannot be accessed during normal operation. Use the interactive outage simulator on this page to see exactly how long that capacity will run your specific appliances.
The Schneider XW Pro Home Energy System uses LFP chemistry. LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) is the safest residential battery chemistry available, with no thermal-runaway risk and typical cycle life of 5,000–10,000 cycles. LFP is the dominant chemistry for new residential battery products in 2026.
10-year product warranty with a 6,000-cycle guarantee (whichever comes first). Schneider's warranty is backed by a financially stable parent company with a mature US warranty-service infrastructure.
Yes. Residential home batteries remain eligible for the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit in 2026 when paired with solar (Section 48E) or installed standalone under the IRA provisions. This is different from the residential solar panel credit (Section 25D) which expired December 31, 2025. For commercial ITC projects, see the FEOC section on this page for domestic-content-adder eligibility.
