Lumin installs alongside your existing electrical panel — no panel swap required. Our electricians wire the circuits you want to manage through the Lumin module, typically in 3-4 hours. This is a big advantage over SPAN when the existing panel is in good shape and doesn't need replacement. We select the 12-18 most important circuits (fridge, lights, well pump, HVAC, etc.) for smart management. The app-based control works well, though we miss SPAN's built-in touchscreen.
Traditional panel upgrades are straightforward for our electricians. The install takes 4-6 hours including utility coordination for the meter disconnect. For solar + battery systems, we add a transfer switch (automatic or manual) which adds 2-3 hours. This is the cost-effective choice when per-circuit smart control isn't a priority.
