25-year savings after system price and selected budgets
$80,900
Cash purchase, before incentives. Financing, roof work and site-specific utility upgrades are excluded. Equipment replacement is included only through your selected budget. Results depend on your roof, usage and utility plan.
NuWatt’s utility database rate is 41.68¢/kWh all-in at 600 kWh/month, effective 2026-10-01, last verified 2026-10-03. The model separates $10.00/month from 40.013¢/kWh variable charges. This is the stored rate snapshot, not a claim of a new tariff verification.
Monthly netting, with unused dollar credits carried forward against variable charges. No cash value is assigned to unused credits. This scenario conservatively retains the fixed monthly charge.
Qualifying small residential net-metered solar on Massachusetts Electric R-1 fixed Basic Service. Excludes Nantucket, heat-pump, income-discount, SMART alternative-credit and competitive-supply plans.
Selected equipment reserve: $0 in year 25. This is your planning allowance, not a replacement quote or warranty promise.
The simulation starts in January with an empty credit bank and evenly distributed monthly usage. The selected price increase applies to variable import charges after year one; export compensation and production charges stay flat. Rates are dated inputs, not a forecast or a promise of unchanged program rules. Credits remaining at the end have no assumed cash value. Optional fees and taxes not listed above are excluded.
Production uses an NLR PVWatts v8 Boston reference roof: south-facing, 30° tilt, 14% system losses and typical weather, with 0.4% annual degradation. It does not assess your property’s shade or roof.
The default 20 × 440 W panels round the 8.74 kW median in Berkeley Lab’s 2025 single-family detached sample (8,306 MA systems) to whole panels. Default usage of 12,000 kWh is an editable sizing scenario, rounded up to cover reference production with a 12,000 kWh minimum. It is not a state-average bill.
Cash pricing uses NuWatt’s existing Hyundai 440 W pricing engine. The $150/year maintenance budget is editable. No tax credit, grant, REC income or battery incentive is assumed.
