10 kWh of usable capacity in a single compact unit, 7.08 kW continuous power, and a 6,000-cycle guarantee backed by a 15-year warranty. We break down whether the IQ 10C justifies its premium price in a post-tax-credit world.

The Enphase IQ Battery 10C is our highest-rated home battery for 2026, earning a 9.5/10 for its best-in-class balance of capacity, continuous power, efficiency, and warranty. At 10 kWh with 7.08 kW continuous output and a 6,000-cycle guarantee, the Gen4 architecture delivers more usable power per wall-mount square inch than any competitor. Installed cost is approximately $13,000 with no federal credit. The main tradeoff is price: at $1,300/kWh, it costs nearly double the Tesla Powerwall 3 per kWh of storage. But for Enphase system owners who value longevity, power density, and a 15-year warranty, the IQ 10C is the battery to beat.
After installing and monitoring hundreds of home batteries across the Northeast, the IQ 10C stands out in the three areas that matter most to homeowners: how long it will last, how much power it delivers, and how little maintenance it requires.
6,000 guaranteed cycles is 50% more than the IQ 5P and far exceeds the Tesla Powerwall 3 warranty. At one cycle per day, that is 16+ years of daily use.
7.08 kW continuous output is 42% more than the Powerwall 3 (5 kW) from a smaller unit. Run a mini-split AC, fridge, and several circuits without throttling.
Gen4 platform features improved thermal management, higher power density, and better cell balancing. This is Enphase's most advanced battery engineering to date.
The IQ Battery 10C is the first product built on Enphase's Gen4 battery platform. It doubles the capacity of the IQ 5P in a form factor that uses 62% less wall space per kWh, while adding 50% more guaranteed cycles and improved thermal management for extreme climates.

The 14.16 kW peak output (10-second burst) handles high-inrush loads like an AC compressor or well pump starting up. The continuous rating is 7.08 kW, which comfortably runs essential loads including a mini-split AC (1.5 kW), refrigerator (0.4 kW), lighting (0.5 kW), internet/router (0.1 kW), and several other circuits simultaneously. However, running a central AC (3.5 kW) plus an electric dryer (5 kW) at the same time would exceed 7.08 kW. For whole-home backup with heavy appliances, plan on two IQ 10C units (14.16 kW continuous).
The IQ 10C has two efficiency ratings. The 96% DC efficiency applies when the battery is DC-coupled with Enphase IQ microinverters, meaning solar energy goes directly to the battery without an extra conversion step. The 90% AC efficiency applies when charging from the grid or an AC-coupled solar system, where energy must convert from AC to DC and back. Most Enphase solar+battery systems use DC coupling and achieve the higher 96% efficiency.
The Enphase IQ Battery 10C costs approximately $13,000 fully installed. At $1,300/kWh, it carries a premium over competitors, but the 15-year warranty and 6,000-cycle guarantee spread that cost over a longer useful life. Here is what the typical installation includes.

Section 25D (the residential clean energy credit) expired December 31, 2025. There is no federal tax credit for standalone battery purchases in 2026. However, batteries installed through a third-party ownership structure (lease or PPA) may still benefit from the commercial Section 48/48E ITC, which the financing company claims. Ask your installer about lease options that may lower your out-of-pocket cost.
The IQ 10C shares a similar installation workflow to the IQ 5P, but there are key differences that homeowners and installers need to know. NuWatt has completed dozens of IQ 10C installations since September 2025 across the Northeast.
At 310 lbs (vs 185 lbs for the 5P), the IQ 10C requires two installers for safe wall mounting. Budget for slightly higher labor costs.
The IQ 10C is designed for wall mounting in a garage, basement, or protected exterior wall. The mounting bracket is reinforced for the heavier unit.
Backup functionality requires the Enphase IQ System Controller (formerly Enpower). This adds $1,500-$2,000 but enables automatic outage detection and seamless transfer.
A typical single-unit IQ 10C installation takes 4-6 hours including mounting, wiring, commissioning, and software setup via the Enphase Installer Toolkit app.

12-24 hours depending on usage
2 x IQ 10C (Whole-Home Backup)

The IQ Battery 10C is fully compatible with ConnectedSolutions demand response programs in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Utilities pay you to dispatch stored energy during peak demand events. With approximately 6 kW of dispatchable capacity per unit, the IQ 10C earns comparable revenue to larger batteries because ConnectedSolutions pays per kW of power, not per kWh of capacity.
| Utility | Summer Rate | Winter Rate | Annual Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eversource (MA) | $275/kW | $50/kW | ~$1,950/yr |
| National Grid (MA) | $225/kW | $50/kW | ~$1,650/yr |
| RI Energy | $225/kW | -- | ~$1,350/yr |
| Eversource (CT) | $275/kW | $50/kW | ~$1,950/yr |
| GMP (VT) | Varies | -- | ~$900/yr |
Revenue estimates based on ~6 kW dispatchable capacity per IQ 10C unit participating in all eligible events. Actual revenue varies by dispatch frequency and battery state of charge. ConnectedSolutions dispatches do not void the Enphase warranty or count against the 6,000-cycle guarantee.
At $1,350-$1,950/year, a single IQ 10C can generate $20,250-$29,250 in ConnectedSolutions revenue over the full 15-year warranty period. Against an installed cost of approximately $13,000, that represents a 56-125% return on investment from demand response alone, before accounting for backup power value and daily bill savings. The 15-year warranty (5 years longer than Powerwall 3) means 5 extra years of revenue.
10 kWh in a single compact unit doubles the capacity of the IQ 5P, reducing total wall space needed for whole-home backup
7.08 kW continuous power handles most essential loads including a mini-split AC, fridge, lights, and internet simultaneously
6,000-cycle guarantee is 50% more cycles than the IQ 5P, translating to a longer effective lifespan under heavy cycling
15-year warranty ties for the longest in the residential battery market and covers ConnectedSolutions dispatches
96% DC round-trip efficiency means minimal energy loss when paired with Enphase microinverters in a DC-coupled configuration
Gen4 architecture with improved thermal management allows operation from -15°C to 55°C without derating
62% less wall space per kWh compared to achieving the same capacity with two IQ 5P units
ConnectedSolutions compatible for $1,350-$1,950/year in demand response revenue across MA, RI, CT, and VT
$1,300/kWh installed cost is premium pricing compared to Tesla Powerwall 3 ($630-$890/kWh) or FranklinWH aPower 2 (~$1,000/kWh)
Launched mid-2025, so the IQ 10C has less field history than the battle-tested IQ 5P with 3+ years in service
Requires the Enphase IQ System Controller for backup functionality, adding $1,500-$2,000 to total system cost
Cannot be mixed with IQ 5P units on the same system, so upgrading means a full battery swap rather than incremental addition
At 310 lbs, a two-person crew is mandatory for wall mounting, which can increase labor costs at some installers
No federal tax credit for standalone battery installs since Section 25D expired December 31, 2025
