Document the nameplate, serial number and fault history. Assess safe continued use or replacement before purchasing additional legacy units.
Inventory home versus Pro hardware and current accounts. A network migration needs explicit acceptance of the exact units, not an assumption that all JuiceBox chargers have the same controls.
Compare replacement hardware with electrical reuse, driver access and ongoing service costs. A low resale price does not establish a lower whole-project cost.

Section 30C is unavailable for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. For qualifying property placed in service from January 1, 2023 through that date, the residential credit was 30% with a $1,000 limit per item at a main home. The business credit was 6%, or 30% when applicable prevailing-wage and apprenticeship requirements were met, with a $100,000 limit per item. Eligible location and other requirements still apply. The IRS defines an item as each charging port, fuel dispenser or storage property—not automatically an entire cabinet or household. Confirm historical eligibility and cost allocation with a tax adviser before filing Form 8911. Do not assume state or utility funding is available for a particular model or site.
