Review the installed 48 A unit, electrical circuit and current charging behavior before deciding whether to retain it. Higher nameplate current alone does not establish faster daily turnaround.
Compare the energy needed between shifts with available AC charging time. A replacement evaluation should include software migration, safe electrical reuse and maintenance responsibility.
Identify who owns the equipment and account. Require written confirmation of access control, billing and support before treating a home-series unit as managed commercial infrastructure.

Section 30C is unavailable for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. For qualifying property placed in service from January 1, 2023 through that date, the residential credit was 30% with a $1,000 limit per item at a main home. The business credit was 6%, or 30% when applicable prevailing-wage and apprenticeship requirements were met, with a $100,000 limit per item. Eligible location and other requirements still apply. The IRS defines an item as each charging port, fuel dispenser or storage property—not automatically an entire cabinet or household. Confirm historical eligibility and cost allocation with a tax adviser before filing Form 8911. Do not assume state or utility funding is available for a particular model or site.
